The task

As e-mobility grows and the number of electronic systems in passenger and commercial vehicles rises, so do the demands on the power supply. Here, the reliable operation of the batteries is safety-relevant: in vehicles with combustion engines, in hybrids and especially in pure electric drives. With lithium-ion batteries, the risk of fire is a particular concern: they can ignite even while charging and so endanger the area around the charging station.
Alongside continuous current and temperature measurement, this makes cell balancing essential, as well as determining the state of charge and battery condition, and crash detection that reliably and automatically disconnects the battery from the vehicle network in the event of an accident.
