The task

As the number of components on rail vehicles grows, train networks need high bandwidth and strong operational reliability. The growing diversity of railway operators and the goal of trans-European networks also call for standardised bus systems that make genuine interoperability possible. The Train Real-time Data Protocol (TRDP), part of the IEC 61375 standard, is an IP-based protocol that enables direct, real-time communication between components from different manufacturers, such as door controls, diagnostic applications or air conditioning systems.

The solution

Developing TRDP-based Ethernet onboard systems usually means meeting the highest demands on reliability, availability and safety. The NewTec team supports customers building such a system with safety and security consulting as well as training. Our specialists are also happy to take on the programming of the safety-relevant software sections. NewTec’s expertise as a TRDP co-developer and our deep security know-how make for a focused, efficient approach. The TRDP conformance of the Ethernet onboard system is verified using NTOnTrack, NewTec’s purpose-built TRDP test system.
