The task

Fire protection in public buildings is subject to stringent safety requirements. Smoke detection systems have to be networked extremely safely, which usually calls for dedicated bus systems. Increasingly, however, there is a desire to connect the smoke detectors over Ethernet, since the relevant infrastructure already exists in the buildings.
In order to close or open specific fire compartments in the event of a fire, the smoke detectors distributed throughout the building need to be networked, either wirelessly or by cable, depending on the system in place. On the one hand, maximum reliability of transmission must be guaranteed and faults must be reported safely and recorded in a log report. On the other hand, faults in the system must not immediately trigger a major alarm.

The solution

The NewTec team carries out design reviews and robustness testing to check the circuit design for safety and reliability, and develops solutions to eliminate any faults and weaknesses found. Our engineers calculate the safety level and advise you on selecting suitable protocols and on how the required level can be achieved with the existing base circuit.
