Pfaffenhofen a. d. Roth, 6 February 2018. NewTec GmbH, a specialist in safety-relevant electronic systems, is launching NTSecureNode, high-security sensor nodes for IoT applications. As part of the IoT solution and service platform NTSecureCloudSolutions, they support device manufacturers in implementing secure IoT applications.

Digitalisation and the universal Internet of Things (IoT) make it possible to use a wide variety of data in innovative ways, for example to optimise production, logistics and maintenance (Industry 4.0), for fleet or energy management (e.g. smart metering, monitoring wind turbines) or in healthcare (e.g. monitoring clinical data). In all these cases, it is important to connect the spatially distributed, often wirelessly connected IoT devices securely to the IoT infrastructure and the systems involved, which are often cloud-based.

NewTec's new NTSecureNodes merge data from various sensors (temperature, gyroscope, acceleration, air pressure, humidity, light), buffer, compress and filter it as required and transmit it in encrypted form to the IoT gateway. For this purpose, the devices have six inputs (4 x digital, 2 of which are frequency-capable; 2 x analogue) and two digital outputs. Transmission parameters such as transmission intervals can be freely configured using an app. For special requirements, NewTec offers individual application development.

NewTec's IoT devices stand out above all for their high security standard. Security functions include end-to-end encryption and secure over-the-air updates for firmware and bootloader. NewTec offers two different versions of its secure sensor nodes: the NTSecureNode NB 100 is optimised for mobile applications, for example on vehicles, and offers a robust housing with CAN and RS485 interfaces, GPS positioning and connectivity via mobile network (LTE). The NTSecureNode BLE 200 was developed for stationary use in industry and critical infrastructure. It supports wireless networking via Bluetooth and WLAN and has an integrated power supply.

The NTSecureNode devices are part of NewTec's comprehensive IoT solution and service platform NTSecureCloudSolutions, which supports device manufacturers in implementing innovative and secure products and services in the cloud environment. The platform comprises hardware, software and services and covers the entire life cycle of an IoT product: from ideation, target, market and business field analysis through product development and architecture concept to integration, maintenance and managed services. NewTec will present the new platform at embedded world in Nuremberg from 27 February to 1 March 2018 (stand 4A-501).
