Pfaffenhofen an der Roth, 19 May 2020. NewTec, a specialist in safety-relevant electronic systems, is a partner of semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics. As part of the ST Partner Program, NewTec will support customers of the world's fifth-largest semiconductor company in developing functionally safe products based on STM8 and STM32 microcontrollers.
The microcontrollers are ideal for electronic systems in motor vehicles (STM8) and industrial plants (STM32), as well as in medical devices and electrical household appliances. For use in safety-critical environments, STMicroelectronics offers various free, certified development packages for functional safety.
As an "ST Authorized Partner", NewTec will now support manufacturers in integrating STM8 and STM32 controllers into safety-critical environments. "We are delighted to have NewTec on board as a partner who can support our customers with its know-how in functional safety and its expertise in safety-relevant standards," says Loic Chossat, Ecosystem Marketing Engineer at STMicroelectronics.
Drawing on the safety packages and hardware architectures, NewTec offers consulting, training and manufacturer-specific development. STMicroelectronics customers benefit from NewTec's many years of experience, for example in implementing IEC 61508 requirements up to SIL 3 (Safety Integrity Level 3) or ISO 13849 requirements up to PLe Cat4 (Performance Level, Category 4). This significantly reduces the time and cost of developing and certifying safety-relevant systems.
