With its standards for train communication networks (TCN), the international standards organisation IEC is paving the way for standardisation and cross-manufacturer compatibility. The TCN protocol TRDP (Train Realtime Data Protocol), specified in IEC 61375-2-8, forms the basis for uniform network communication in trains. Vehicle and component manufacturers now face the task of integrating TRDP and other TCN standards into their products.
