A systematic security strategy is essential for protecting networked machines in industrial environments from security attacks and, for example, preventing downtime or quality issues. In the first part of the “Industrial Security for Engineers” seminar, normative recommendations for implementing an information security management system are presented. The second part explains selected steps from the security development lifecycle. Building on this knowledge, the integration of technical security measures with functional safety is discussed, and solution strategies are developed.
